A graduate of McGill University in Art History, Nancy Hushion began her professional career at the Art Gallery of Ontario in 1973, serving first as Co-ordinator of Extension Services and later as Head of the Extension Services Division. In 1979, she became the Visual Arts Officer of the Ontario Arts Council and was responsible for the direction and management of 14 granting programs designed to assist all aspects of the visual arts community in the province.
N.L. Hushion and Associates was established in February of 1989. The firm offers specialized expertise in the field of cultural planning and management, with specific reference to art museums and the visual arts. Given Ms. Hushion’s extensive experience with the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Ontario Arts Council, projects involving strategic planning, curatorial assessment and functional programs, organization and facility development, and community outreach are of particular interest to the firm.
Throughout her career, Ms. Hushion has been active in the professional associations linked to the visual arts, serving on the Boards of the Ontario Association of Art Galleries, the Canadian Museums Association and the International Council of Museums.
Ms. Hushion has lectured on museum and visual arts management for the MBA program in Arts Administration at York University in Toronto and at Université Laval in Québec City. She is fluently bilingual in French and English.
