Hilary Russell has earned a reputation as one of North America's foremost theatre historians in her 30-year career.  She is the author of numerous papers and lectures on a wide range of subjects, and has lectured on theatre research for the League of Historic American Theatres, the Theatre Historical Society, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, the Theatre Library Association, and the International Association of Theatre and Stage Employees.

As Project Historian for the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Restoration, she conducted archival, field and oral research and synthesized a comprehensive array of information for an interdisciplinary project team.  She prepared a restoration philosophy based on her findings and international standards of conservation.  In addition to numerous periodical articles and an extensive scholarly volume, Ms. Russell published a popular history, Double Take, which won her a City of Toronto Book Award for literary excellence.
