DULCIE C. GILMORE

  Crown Point, IN

Chicago-area native Dulcie Gilmore has been successfully operating theatres since 1979. She has programmed, managed, established governance structures, and prepared financial pro-formas, audience projections, startup and annual operating budgets. Two of the theatres she managed (the Paramount Arts Centre in Aurora, IL and the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, IL), were startup facilities. The Auditorium Theatre in Chicago was on the verge of closing when she took over. Under her management it was transformed from a deficit-ridden, run down facility to one of the premier performing arts venues in the country. All three facilities are city, state or federal historic landmarks.

Among other projects, Ms. Gilmore has provided management services for the Chicago International Film Festival, which is the oldest competitive film festival in the United States. She currently serves as a director of the League of Historic American Theatres, Chicago Central Area Committee (a "think tank" committee of CEO's of major corporations in Chicago), and the State Street Council, Chicago's Loop-based retail association. Ms. Gilmore is appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley to serve as Commissioner of the State Street Commission. She is a trustee of the Stagehands Health & Welfare, Pension and Annuity Funds, Musicians Union Health & Welfare Fund, and a member of the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers. She served as president of the League of Chicago Theatres from 1993 to 1995.

In 2004, Ms. Gilmore was appointed as the Director of  the 4,249-seat Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago.
